Hans Dieter Schaal
Born in Ulm on the Danube in 1943.
Studied architecture in Hannover and Stuttgart
Graduated 1970.
Since resident in Attenweiler near Ulm. Freelance artist, writer, architect, exhibition designer, set designer, and landscape architect.
Numerous sets for major European theatres and opera houses: "Wozzeck" in Berlin and Paris; "Tristan und Isolde" in Hamburg and Bologna; "Ariane et Barbe-Bleue" in Paris; "Fierrabras" in Vienna; "Lulu" in Brussels; "Elektra" in Dresden and Zurich, etc.
Exhibition designs in Berlin "750 Jahre Berlin" (1987) in the Martin Gropius Bau, and "Kino Movie Cinema" (1995) at the same venue. Further projects in Bonn, Warsaw, Venice, Rome, and Aspen (Colorado).
